2005 Toyota Tacoma radiator fluid?

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma and the owner's manual is not too specific. I want to know how often (how many miles) should I change the radiator fluid (coolant)?2005 Toyota Tacoma radiator fluid?
You have Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) installed on your vehicle. It has a 100,000 mile life span. There is typically a very small white rectangle sticker on the hood or radiator support detailing this.

  • How come my honda cbr wont start after replacing my radiator?

I had to change out my radiator in my honda cbr 600 f4i and when i replaced it now the headlights wont turn on, but everything on the display stays lit up and wont shut off like normal. Then when I go to turn it on it wont start up either you can just hear it wanting to.How come my honda cbr wont start after replacing my radiator?
Re-check your electrical. You may have crossed a couple of wires. How come my honda cbr wont start after replacing my radiator?
Go back and retrace your work, you've either damaged a wire, left a wire disconnected, or connected something incorrectly. If it worked before you changed the radiator, and doesn't work now, how hard can it be to find it...hmmm.

How do i change hose running from radiator to back of suburban or is that the problem?

i was driving home from vegas, car started to run hot, i pulled over, checked radiator, and reservoir

both were empty. i filled them up, and continued on my way, this procedure happened all the way

home. then i noticed water leaking from the right side of the suburban, just behind the rear tire.

could this be why car keeps running hot..How do i change hose running from radiator to back of suburban or is that the problem?
If you have a heater in the rear (Many Suburbans do) that hose running to the heater is most likely the problem. If you can find the exact spot of the leak you may be able to fix it without replacing the whole hose. Whether you repair or replace it, make sure that it is hidden away up inside the frame when you are finished so it will not be hit by rocks from the road or caught on anything you drive over. How do i change hose running from radiator to back of suburban or is that the problem?
I suspect a blown head gasket. Water would be very visible coming out of the tailpipe, both steam and drips of water even when the engine is warmed up.How do i change hose running from radiator to back of suburban or is that the problem?
Isn't that where the tailpipe lets out/ You have a blown head gasket and maybe a cracked head too. The water is going through the combustion chamber and out the tailpipe. The engine gets hot after it loses water and can't cool down.

How do I drain the coolant out of my motorcycle?

I have an '03 Honda Shadow ACE VT750 and I am changing the radiator. The radiator is drained, but how do I drain the coolant out of the engine to change it all? Also, is there anything else I need to do after I fill it back up?How do I drain the coolant out of my motorcycle?
The drain bolt on the water pump cover will fully drain the cooling system.

Water pump cover - left side of engine - radiator hose goes to it - drain bolt has a sealing washer on it.

Let the bike run for a few minutes with the radiator cap off, to let the air escape.

How do I change the passenger side radiator fan motor on a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan?

I have loosened the fan assembly. It doesn't look like a I can completely remove the assembly (shroud?), so I'm sorta working blind - reaching up from under the van. I need to know how the fan blade is attached to the motor and how to remove it. Then I assume I will be able to get to the screws holding the fan motor in. About my radiator hose...?

i need to change my radiator hose. i have a 98' dodge neon. my questions are: how much is the hose itself (upper hose) and how difficult is it to change it urself. what do i need to change it and how? please and thank you.About my radiator hose...?
check the price with your local auto parts store on line. I use Autozone. Probably cost between $6 an $16 depending.

Upper hose is usually easiest. Unscrew two clamps. Should just take a standard screwdriver. Work when car is off and cool. Be prepared to replace the antifreeze you loose during the work. It can be a bit messy so be aware of where you are working.About my radiator hose...?
should run you below 15 bucks and all you need is a pair of plyers nad some new clamps .it is as aesy as pie.About my radiator hose...?
depending on the clamps, it should be fairly easy...if you have spring clamps, you may need a special pair of pliers...

and please, do not attempt this when the engine hot...About my radiator hose...?
Upper radiator hoses are just about the easiest things to change. All you need is a flat head screwdriver. Unscrew the hose clamps and put the new ones on. Make sure that the car is not really hot when you do this because there is a chance you could get sprayed.About my radiator hose...?
They aren't that much. any auto parts store should have one. I would also get 2 new hose clamps. I don't care for the spring loaded ones that they put on cars now. I like the old screw on clamps, you can always tighten them if they are loose. The whole thing should be less than 25 bucks or so.

  • How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?

I am trying to buy a Nissan Sentra buit title because its radiator fell apart while in a high curve. I was wondering before i buy it how long is it expected to last. The car currently has about 79,000 miles and it's a 2007. Please, somebody that knows aobut cars tell me something about it and some other tips as well. Thanks. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?
buit title because its radiator fell apart in a high curve? I don't know what your asking. MR-2.0 liter Sentra motors do not like sludge and oil must be changed at regular intervals. Rebuilt Title means the car was totaled in a crash the radiator just does not fall apart. In a crash the front end gets smashed back into the motor. CAR FAX costs a little following up with the vin and asking a Nissan Dealer if they can run the warranty repair history. If the car has never seen a dealership be very suspicious. 79,000 miles in less than 3 years means this car was used and driven a lot of miles each year. If the engine has been overheated abused you may not know right away. I would walk away unless this car is very cheep. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?
the radiator is a mute point.

the car should last until 150,000 miles with ease.

but to be sure have the compression check. if all cylinders are good, the car will hold out.How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?
Nissan is a good make of Import vehicles. Most Asian vehicles hold up better than the ones made in USA. I have had less problem with all the Nissans that I have owned.

If you meant %26quot;rebuit title%26quot; the failure of a radiator would not be the true reason for it having a rebuilt title. When buying a rebuilt title vehicle you really should have a professional check it out for you. A seller doesn't have to tell you what was really done for it to have a rebuilt title. Beware, of rebuilt titled vehicles because it affects the value of the vehicle and Car lots normally are not allowed by law to resale them. How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?
Generally, the radiator doesn't have much to do with how long the car will last, providing the car was not driven for an extended period of time without a working radiator. If the car was driven too much without a working radiator, though, it could cause permanent damage to the engine.

2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?

I was told I needed Transmission Fluid and Radiator Fluid change..

How much would both of the cost ? and if I had to pick one to do right now and the other later which one should I have done tomorrow?

I have a 2005 Honda Civic little over 61,000 miles ..2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?
I would definitely change the transmission fluid.

At 60,000 miles it would be good to drain and refill it twice with a short drive in between to mix up the fluid. You might put off the cooling system but do it at least by this coming fall.

The reason is that the automatic tranny holds over 6 quarts but when you drain it only 2.9 quarts comes out. So to get out more of the old fluid you need to drain and refill it at least twice at your mileage. Use only Honda ATF fluid. Get it at the dealer or at a Carquest auto parts store. Cost is around $6.50 to $8 a quart. So doing it yourself will cost $40 to $50 for the fluid. Put a new washer on the drain plug as well.

Changing either of these will not make your car drive faster.

And DON'T flush a Honda transmission unless you are looking for trouble.2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?
Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean proper maintenance shouldn't be done. Sure, transmission fluid can last up to 90,000 miles but that's under %26quot;normal%26quot; conditions. If you do a lot of city driving, short trips and such or live in more extreme warm or cold conditions it is recommended you change the fluid more often. If you never changed the fluid my suggestion is to do it now. It should cost between $100 and $150 for a good flush of the system.

Same goes for the radiator fluid but should be changed even more so. If it's the regular green fluid (in which I think Civics use) the most I would go would be 2 years or 30,000 miles. A flush should cost around $80 to $100.

Honda's are good cars, but not that good to skip maintenance. If I were you I would try to get both done more sooner then later.2005 Honda Civic Transmission and Radiator Fluid Change?
its an 05 you wont need one of those for at least another 2 years, its a honda! its so easy to do on a Honda it shouldnt cost but 12 dollars and flud for the radiator. as far as the trans depends on the shop call around.

Flushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?

I bought a new thermostat and seal and i want to flush my radiator and change my fluid i was wondering what all do i need to buy like what type of fluids and how much thanksFlushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?
Someone probably told you that you need a new thermostat because you weren't getting heat to come out of the heater. Common misconception.

First thing you should do is open the radiator cap when cold. Fill the radiator to the top with 50/50 antifreeze. Leave the cap off and start the car. Wait while the car warms up, adding antifreeze until the coolant starts to flow past the radiator opening. When it starts to flow, then you know your thermoatat is in good working condition because in a car, the thermostat is just suppose to delay the cooling of the engine until the car warms up, then it opens and stays open until the engine cools..

Put the cap back on and you should be good to go. But you should check the coolant level, at the radiator, when cold to ensure you don't have a leak.Flushing radiator and replacing thermostat on zx2 escort need tips?
you only need water to flush the radiator but ensure you fill it with the corrct anti-freeze mix otherwise the waeter will corride the engine block and you'll end up needing a new engine. the auto shop will be able to help or simply look at the info on the containers.

If you still have the owner's manual the details will be there.

How do I drain the radiator on a '99 Megane?

I need to drain the radiator to change the antifreeze concentration for the winter but see no easy way of draining the radiatorHow do I drain the radiator on a %26039;99 Megane?
.If there's no drain valve on the bottom of the radiator, remove the bottom hose from its connection to the radiator; prepare to get wet! I'd take the rad cap off first so you get the fastest outflow possible, to help flush it out.

You might want to refill with straight water and drain that too, it all helps to shift the crud, before tightening up and refilling with the right mixtureHow do I drain the radiator on a %26039;99 Megane?
the last answer was spot on but be aware that Renault's can be temperamental and you must be sure to get all the air out of the system, there are bleed screws that you must be aware of.How do I drain the radiator on a %26039;99 Megane?
Many modern radiators do not have drain taps, as others have said, remove the bottom hose, It is a very good idea to flush thoroughly, and when you do so, note is the water goes through the radiators quickly or slowly; if slowly the radiator may be partly blocked. As another said, make sure you bleed all the air from the system; an airlock could overpressurise the system and blow the radiator! Use good antifreeze.

How much would a fixed up '67-'69 camaro cost?

I always wanted an old school 1st gen Camaro, but I'm not a gearhead pro. I've worked on cars but just basic things like oil change, radiator replacement, install bolt ons, etc., but I wouldn't trust myself in building an engine or painting the exterior. In other words, I couldn't restore one myself. What's the avg. price I should be paying for a good fixed up camaro? I agree with that. To simply throw money at one to buy it, can be done for under $20K. Patience and flexibility in the distance you are willing to go to get one.How much would a fixed up %26039;67-%26039;69 camaro cost?
Here is an absolute wonderful web site that helps determine the value of almost any car. Just pick what you want under options for the Camaro like a 4 speed or a 427 or corvette air conditioner and it will give you three values for Low Retail Value, Average Retail Value, and High Retail Value. I used it and found out that my 73 Camaro LT RS is worth $10,000 as it sits for low retail value.

You could find one for under $20,000 but not much under $20,000. I see people pay $10,000 for a rusted out 69 camaro with no engine and needs a lot of work. But, I have seen a nice daily driver condition 69 Camaro for $17,000 in Saskatchewan before.

I don't know the price, but if it's under 5000 then it's a good investment. It sounds kind of original. There will be a lot of work involved to keep it up. And with a car that old there' usually a lot of hidden rust. Those cars have a lot of value when fixed up.1969 firebird good deal?
if it is messed up try to make it a lower price then you can fix it up if it is not messed up test drive it before you buy it and see if the engine actually runs.

How to change 1995 Grand Cherokee radiator coolant system.?

    I'm don't know about cars.(Noob)

Can I change by my self, the radiator coolant system?

If i could, please tell me details and please be specific. Thank you.How to change 1995 Grand Cherokee radiator coolant system.?
You mean the anti-freeze? There's a drain on the bottom of the radiator. Open it up, let it run into a pan. Stick a hose into the top and let it run, till the water is clean. Shut the drain, put in antifreeze,(at least 1/2 coolant) start it and let it run slow. Keep adding until it's full. Done. How to change 1995 Grand Cherokee radiator coolant system.?
The best way to learn is to take a trip to your local auto parts store and purchase a sevice manuel on your specific vehicle such as: Hayse, chiltons, etc. It's like having a mechanic there to walk you through the process on any and every mechanical repair on your vehicle.

Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?

The system is a sealed one which only does the central heating.Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?
If you are lucky, your radiator will have isolating valves on both the inlet and outlet. If not you will need to empty (drain-down) the whole system. This is not as daunting as it may sound. First, turn the boiler/heater off. Find the low-level drain point (usually near to a back or side door) and lead a length of hose pipe from the drain-off point to outside the house. The %26quot;header%26quot; tank for the system will be in a high part of the house (roof-void/loft/airing cupboard) Turn off the outlet valve/tap if it has one or place a piece of wood or garden cane across the top rim of the tank and tie the ball valve arm up to this to stop any water delivery into the tank. Finally open the low-level drain-off and when the water stops flowing from the hose-pipe outside, you can do what you like with the radiator. In case the water in the system has had a treatment additive make sure that none of it can fall onto any carpet or rug beneath the radiator - it will stain! When the job is done, untying the ball-valve or opening the outlet valve/tap will allow the system to refill. Don't forget the water treatment additive - your local hardware or builders' merchant will supply you with this. Good luck!Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?
There's an alternative to draining the system down - you can freeze the pipe below your radiator valve, and turn off the valve at the other end of the radiator, then you only have a radiator-full of water to deal with.

Make sure the radiator is cold before you start, and that the new valve is an exact replacement for the old one so you won't waste time modifying the pipework!

Freezer kits are available at larger DIY stores in the UK or from specialist plumbers merchants and they save loads of time and effort. Briefly, you wrap the pipe in foam lagging (supplied) then spray the can of freezing mixture in. The water freezes in a few minutes, and stays frozen for 20 - 30 minutes - plenty of time to swap your radiator valve, and if you're quick you won't even need to worry about the water in the rad. Just put a pan under the rad connection and work quickly!

Another bonus - as you will have lost almost no water there's no topping up to do (but vent the air from the top of the rad just in case).Re changing a radiator valve(not thermostat one), how do you blank the inlets to system and where to do it.?
No need to blank any inlets off as the %26quot;mains cold water filling loop%26quot; will already be in the off position. If it wasn't you'd have crazy system pressure and could well be heating up the mains cold water supply if the non return valve was a bit duff !.

For a belt and braces approach you can disconnect the loop nearest the incoming valve.

Filling up is just a case of turning on the taps on the filling loop and raising the system pressure to 1 or 1.5 bar (cold) then venting the radiator - then topping up the pressure to 1 or 1.5 bar.

    Job done.

PS. The loop is generally a braided flexible pipe close to the boiler

I don't know the exact price, but if you call Auto Zone, and give them the year, make , and model they can tell you. As far as the cost for labor I would call a couple of shops to compare.Does anyone know how much a dodge neon%26039;s radiator will cost also if anyone knows how much it will cost to chan
Check radiator.com for pricing. Someone needs to find the leak if possible and stop it. That means and external inspection of all hoses, fittings, and even the heater core. If none can be found it could be a head gasket leak. I WOULDN'T replace the radiator unless I could verify it was leaking. A good radiator shop can test it for leaks.Does anyone know how much a dodge neon%26039;s radiator will cost also if anyone knows how much it will cost to chan
If you don't know how to work on a car yourself then your best bet is to have a trained mechanic do it for you, they will include the cost of ordering a new radiator and the labor to install it. If you prefer doing it yourself than you can contact your local auto parts store, we have Napa and Discount Auto Parts in my area and tell them the year, make, and model of your car and they can assist you on ordering a new radiator or check local junk yards or salvage shops for a cheap used one if you're low on cash. Or you could also contact the Dodge Dealership for replacement parts and labor but they are normally more expensive.Does anyone know how much a dodge neon%26039;s radiator will cost also if anyone knows how much it will cost to chan
You need to find a reputable to preesure test the system and find exactly where the leak is. It might be as simple as tightening a hose clamp. If it is the raiator a new one at Auto Zone should be about $150.If your mecanically inclined put it in your self.If not ,open your wallet, let the moths out and pay to have it done right the first time.At a reputable shop you will also get a guarantee.

Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?

how do i get the system to kick in or do i need to build up the pressure if so how do i do that ? please helpHave changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?
All you should need to do is refill and bleed for now.(add inhibitor later)

    Your problem is elsewhere.

    Is the boiler lit?

Is the thermostat turned up enough?

Is the pump running?Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?
You have air trapped in the radiator. There is a bleed valve on the radiator. Open this and you will hear the air hissing out. Let it continue until water bubbles out and then close. this should do the trick. There might also be air in other pipes to the system but if the radiator is clear it should rise to the feed and expansion tank in the loft. DO NOT fire up until the radiator is purged of the air.Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?
Check that the pilot light is on. and boiler stat is set high. Check that electrics for boiler are on. Follow makers instructions on the pull off panel under the gas fire.Have changed a radiator on a back boiler system but boiler wont kick in to heat them up?
If you drained the system, then you either have not filled the hot water side of the system, (by opening the diverter valve manually, or you havn't bled the system properly, you may also have the timer, thermostat or room thermostat off, not turned power on, you bleed with the heating off, and you bleed rads from the bottom rooms first, working to upstairs. I think you are going to find this will cost you more than getting an engineer would have done in the first place.

Should i change the radiator? How i can i know where its leaking from?I dont think it is the cap but i am not sureHOw do i stop my radiator leak?
I would try to replace the cap, you should do so every so often anyways and they are very inexpensive. They have a product called stop leak for radiators, if the cap does not work. You may have to replace the radiator if these things do not work. You can tear the car up pretty bad if it overheats really bad. It could also be your water pump or something else. Its worth looking into!Good luck!HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
Try a can of black pepper or 2.Works the same as radiator stop leak but doesn't gum up the cooling system like stop leak. That works for small leaks in the radiator. But of course you need to locate the leak and get it fixed properly.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
i would say just replace it.....radiators are tricky, you cant, in my experience, ever fix it completely.....just slow it down for a while....HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
Change your radiator cap.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
How do you know your radiator is leaking if you cant see any leak?

If you are losing water but its not coming out of the car could mean that you have a blown head gasket. where is the coolent going?

Or your heater coil is leaking. Do you have wet floor on pasenger side? strange smell in the car?HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
uhh if the leak is visible and is in the little coils then u could just put some JB weld on it, its this epoxy thing they sell at all car part stores. if the leak isnt visible u can get this little pump with a gauge on it, where u take off the radiator cap and put the pump on there and u slowly start pumping it building up pressure in the radiator and if theres a crack or a leak youll be able to see it from the large spray of coolant coming from it, if your not willing to spend the 15 bucks on the pump, you can just take it to a shop and tell them to check for leaks. another thing is if you buy a new radiator itll run you about 200 bucks, you can get one at the junkyard for maybe 50-100 but if its minor, you can just use the JB weld i suggested earlierHOw do i stop my radiator leak?
I dumped a tablespoon of black pepper in my car's radiator and it plugged the leak right up.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
You can put an egg in the radiator. Its a temp fix i saw it on myth busters.. So you know it worksHOw do i stop my radiator leak?
have a pressure test conducted to your radiator, you will see the antifreeze spraying out, a local shop can do in 3 minHOw do i stop my radiator leak?
You cant see coolant on your driveway.... or on the rad... it probrably isn't your rad. It could be that you are burning it... check for white smoke from the tail pipe... it could also be that its leaking down the rear of the engine due to a faulty head or intake gasket... check for foul smell under hood and in air vents.

don't know what else to tell ya untill you find that leak!HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
Straight up. If I remember right, it could be a head gasket. It seeps through, and is being burned in the combustion chambers. DON'T spend money on a rad., you might not need one. Someone else should answer this and know. Good luck.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
well the leak maybe from aa krak in the pip thts not visible like a krak tht maybe in a line so wen it leaks u cant tell if its startin at the top or here so itll be best to change the radiator or pipes but first take its to a shop or findsumone or a place to lift it up and look at all the parts to see where exactly leeking and iff u cant fix it urself then bring it to a professional auto shop like auto zone pepboys and wat not and jus get them to repair it and tell em about ur problem cuz i dont think u wanna bring it to any small business shop where theyll jus fix it and be liek well u also need new such and such wen u dont jus to rip u off.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
Probably leaking through the headgasket into the engine, take it to someone who knows what they are doing, but don't change the rad it will not fix your problemHOw do i stop my radiator leak?
BEFORE CHANGING THE RADIATOR TRY TABLE PEPPER AND NOTHING ELSE, IT SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE BUT IT WORKS.....DONT PUT NO RADIATOR STOP LEAK IN YOUR SYSTEM, FACTS ARE.......IT WILL PLUG YOUR COOLONG SYSTEM UP....ALSO FEEL YOUR IN AND OUT HEATER CORE HOSES TO FEEL IF THEY ARE HOT, IF SO THE WATER PUMP IS OK....HOPE THIS HELPED YA.....HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
it sounds like you would be better off paying to have this one checked out, there could be more wrong with it than just a radiator,it could also have a leaky head gasket on it,either way i think if i was you id have it checked out to be sure, good luck with it.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?
It's probably your waterpump. I just had the same problem.HOw do i stop my radiator leak?

Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, radiator. Checked alternator, good; replaced ignition module and coil. Need to know where to look, suspect choke system but I don't know how to troubleshoot it.I overheated a 97 Corolla. Blew the radiator, changed a bunch of parts, runs 15 mins and dies. Any ideas?
is the %26quot;Check engine%26quot; light on? if it is there will be diagnostic codes stored in the ECU computer. those should give a clue as to what is happening.

it wont be the %26quot;choke%26quot; system because i dont think it has a choke. it does have an %26quot;idle air control valve%26quot; (IAC) and yes that could be a problem. maybe you should check the coolant temp sensor. it may have been damaged by the overheating and is now out of range.

if you are really going to tackle this - you better get a service manual and follow the diagnostic procedures.I overheated a 97 Corolla. Blew the radiator, changed a bunch of parts, runs 15 mins and dies. Any ideas?
I don't have a check engine light. The air control valve sounds interesting, it acts just like the engine chokes out. I doubt if it's the coolant sensor because I don't get an overheat light. My Haynes manual is terrible, it doesn't have a good troubleshooting tree, it covers too many years.

I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?

I own a '85 Buick Lesabre and changed the radiator in it. I had the transmission line disconnected and all of my fluid shot out...which is good...cause the fluid looked like A-1 steak sauce (reffering to how dark it was) so I hooked up the lines and poored more coolant in it and now my radiator runs great.

But now I have the transmission to worry about. So how much trans fluid should I put in it? While in park the fluid shows half full...while in run it it barely shows at all and I've already put in about a quart and half. how much more should I add?I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?
All transmissions are different, just keep adding until it says its full IN PARK.I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?
check it with it running and in park. thats when the dipstick is accurateI changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?
That's right . . . . Check it in PARK with the engine running at an idle. Once you get fluid showing on the stick start adding it more slowly. On MOST vehicles the difference between the bottom of the crosshatch marks on the stick and the FULL mark is a pint.I changed out my radiator and crunk up the car with the transmission line disconnected.?
If the fluid looked that bad, I would drop the pan and change the filter and then refill the trans with fresh fluid. If you do that, add about three quarts, then start the car and add till full. Then, put the shifter in all the positions with the engine running and foot on the brake, and then recheck the fluid level.

its actually easy. drain the radiator, take bottom and top hose off. if its automatic.take the two bottom radiator lines off also these will be either 7/16 or 1/2 12mm and 13mm. then you have a top bracket maybe 4 to 6 small bolts holding it down. once you do this radiator should lift straight up and out. good luck.

But, thats not working. How exactly do I disconnect the line?I%26039;m changing the radiator on my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. How do I disconnect transmission cooler line?
Many of these new connectors are a use once and break trying to remove connector.

In other words, it may require enough force to pinch this thing to remove it that it breaks the connector and then you'll just have to buy new ones to reassemble or install the lines in the new radiator. Same deal on heater core lines on Chrysler products. Save the old piece so they can match it at the store. I know NAPA stocks these connectors.

I don't think there is a tool to do this but you might ask your local auto parts place.

HOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?

I would like to drain the radiator and re-fill with new anti-freeze. How do i drain it, where is the drain located, how do i re-fill it again? i have been reading about making sure that there is no air bubble left or engine will over heat... please some explain to me how to do this... thank you, by the way..it's my first time doing this, i am a female so just explain as i may not know what parts are called what.... thank uHOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?
It's not too tough but you do have to have the vehicle either on a lift or on service ramps. Beyond that you just have to know which drain plug to pull, generally it's the lower radiator hose and then a plug or two on the bottom of the engine block. After that you take off the radiator cap and flush it through with water from a hose, with the drain plugs still removed, until the water runs clear. Then you replace the plugs, fill 'er up and run the car with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opens. You can tell the thermostat opened by feeling the upper radiator hose, it'll get hot when it opens. You should also squeeze the upper radiator hose once the thermostat's open so you can get the bubble out of it. Check the coolant level. Add if necessary or put the radiator cap on and you're done.

All of that being said this is the perfect job for a do-it-your-selfer, but I wouldn't tackle it without at least a hayne's manual.

Including the purchase of the ramps you should be able to do this yourself for under $50. You'll save about $10 - $20 over a shop doing it and you'll have service ramps so you can do other things on your own too. If you already have ramps this will be under $20.HOW 2 CHANGE THE RADIATOR FLUID?
i dont know how to drain it but when you fill it back up just pour the water mixed with antifreeze right down the radiator to the rim and its that simple

Not all that easy, there should be at least 4 bolts holding it on. Those bolts may also be holding other parts in place as well, like electrical earths for the headlights. If you don't know exactly what you're doing it is best to go to a mechanicHow do you change a car radiator?
yes pretty much, make sure you idle the motor for about a minute after replacement to allow the system to cycle the fluid through it....you will see bubbles just add more fluid

How easy / difficult is it to change out a Radiator Thermostat on a 97 Toyota Camry?

Should I change it out myself or let someone else do it for me? Do you know any resources to where I may find detailed instructions? How easy / difficult is it to change out a Radiator Thermostat on a 97 Toyota Camry?
T-stat is NOT part of the cap!! Its in the block. Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, the t-stat is in the housing the hose clamps to. Two 12mm bolts remove the housing. Its very easy and you can do it yourself...... Make sure you do it when the engine is cold. How easy / difficult is it to change out a Radiator Thermostat on a 97 Toyota Camry?
The radiator thermostat is part of the cap and is probably the single easiest part to replace. Wait until the engine is cold.

If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?

Will a bad radiator cap make your car over heat, how do I know if I need to change my radiator cap?If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
Yes it will by letting coolant overflow at too low of a pressure. This can also happen if you have the wrong radiator cap for your engine. The wrong pressure rating. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
The only way to tell that your cap is bad is to have it pressure tested. I don't know who would do it for free. A radiator cap builds pressure in your cooling system, raising the boiling point of the coolant. Hopefully thats your problem, but I'm skeptical. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
A bad cap will cause over heating . Sometimes , it is not easy to tell when one is bad with out a tester . Usually an excessive amount of over flow in the bottle will tell . If you are suspicious of yours , change it . They are not expensive .If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
Yes a bad radiator cap can make your car overheat. It can also spill coolant on the ground. Whenever you see a puddle of coolant on the ground, especially if the car is warm or running, the radiator cap is the first thing you suspect.

The way a radiator works, it's full of coolant. As the engine gets hot, the coolant expands. It's supposed to be under pressure, because pressurized coolant can get hotter (like water in a pressure cooker), so it can carry away more heat, so your radiator works better. But it can only be under so much pressure before things begin to burst. So the radiator cap has a spring in it. When the pressure gets above a certain threshold, the cap backs off and allows some coolant to flow to the overflow reservoir. When the engine cools off, it sucks the coolant back from the reservoir.

The cap has a number on it, either pounds or 'bar' (atmospheric pressure), and that's the amount of pressure it holds. If the spring gets weak, or the gasket wears out, it won't hold that pressure and you'll either not have as much cooling capacity or else it will spill coolant on the ground as it expands, instead of it going to the reservoir. There used to be machines at gas stations and auto parts stores that could measure the strength of the spring in radiator caps, but I don't know these days. You can buy another one cheap enough. It should have the same number on it for the same pressure. If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
Put a new one on. If the problem stops, that fixed it. That's probably $10 or less. There are other places cooling systems can leak, so be ready to pay for professional help.If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
YES IF YOUR CAP IS BAD. YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM WORKS OF OF PRESSURE EACH VEHICAL IS DIFFERENT IF MY VEHICLE WAS OVER HEATING I WOULD THINK THE THERMOSTAT. IF YOUR CAP IS BAD COOLANT MIGHT BE LEAKING OUT BUT NOT ALWAYS IT MIGHT LET YOUR COOLANT TRANSFER TO YOUR OVER FLO TANK IF ITS BAD . IF YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR FOR AWHILE THEN YOU SHUT IT OFF AND YOU CAN HEAR A GURGALING SOUND YOUR CAP COULD BE BAD.If My Radiator Cap Is Bad, What Are The Syptoms?
sorry babe, if you have a car built within the past 20 yrs, and its not a v8, then you probably now have a bad head gasket/warped heads. the cap could have caused it, but now chances are its bad.also pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant, like freon in an a/c.do not buy the cap with the pressure release lever, dont ask!

I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?

Not a job for a novice. There are several panels that must be removed from this Jeep to extract the radiator and several components to be removed from front of engine to extract water pump...If you are not depending on this for sole transportation then there is a way to learn. Buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual on the vehicle. It is a repair guide written for the laymen that includes pictures. It is a bumper to bumper guide for complete and total tear down and rebuild of the entire vehicle divided into specific sections easy to define.

If it is your sole transportation, shell out the money and save yourself a whole lot of aggravation.I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?
Not to sure on a wrangler but I do know. There is no radiator that is going to take 30 minutes. You always have to take out more then what you expect and just be prepared to be there for a few hours. Grab you a book at autozone or somewhere like that on your vehicle. It's not too bad. The fan shroud is a bit of a pain, but the radiator is only two hoses and 4 bolts. At that point the pump should be fairly easy to get to. I would advise you to replace the thermostat while you are in there.I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know how to change the radiator and water pump. how long will it take?
Honestly I let a 16 year old change mine out in my 99 wrangler, and he had never been under the hood of a car. It took him about an hour to do it by himself, but we made sure he had someone who knew what they were doing supervising. Took a little longer than normal because the adult didn't assist just made sure it was done right. It was a learning experience. I will warn you make sure you get a radiator with a warranty, I replaced my factory one and within a year it blew the top seal, that's why he had to change it in order to borrow it for the weekend.

How do I hold it in place to loosen the nut?Hello! I%26039;m trying to change the radiator on my 1999 BMW...?
It is definitely reverse threaded. Use a bar to put pressure against the belt that is attached to the pulley. That should hold it enough so that you can remove the nut.Hello! I%26039;m trying to change the radiator on my 1999 BMW...?

    How to change clio radiator?

03 diesel clio needs to change the radiator does anyone know how to get the old radiator out?How to change clio radiator?
Usually you have to take the slam-panel out. That's the bit with the bonnet catch on it. There are often a couple of bolts over each headlamp.

Once that's out of the way you can lift the rad clear (once you've unplugged/disconnected everything) and replace.

Just don't slam the bonnet with the slam panel missing, and make sure you align it properly or you won't get the bonnet open again without a fight.

  • Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?

The shop that worked on my clutch said they would change the radiator coolant for me - only drained a bit out, just thought it was low. When they went to add more in, it would only take just over a liter.

What is going on and how is it fixed? Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?
YOU HAVE TO WARM UP THE ENGINE SO THE THERMOSTAT OPENS UP SO YOU CAN FILL THE ENGINE BLOCK AND HEAD(S) . IF YOU DON'T THE NEXT TIME YOU DRIVE IT ,IT WILL OVER HEAT AND MAYBE BURN UP , BLOW A HEAD GASKET , CRACK A HEAD OR BLOCK , OR ALL OF THE ABOVE . HEAT IT UP UNTIL YOU SEE THE COOLANT MOVING IN THE RADIATOR AND ADD MORE UNTIL IT'S FULL AND MOVING ------THIS MIGHT TAKE SEVERAL TIMES.Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?
There could be a few things going on here.

    1. The shop is trying to take you for money.

    2. There is a clog somewhere in the system.

    3. They did not compleatly drain the system. Make sure the coolant cap is off and just remove the bottom hose and you should be good to go.

If you want the collant changed I would take to and have it flushed. Why will my radiator take only about 1 litre or so of coolant?
    perhaps it's clogged?

How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?

Changed radiator and started truck without the trans. cooling line connected to the radiator. The truck ran about 20 to 30 sec. and alot of fluid was pumped out. Ive added 3 quarts and it still doesnt touch the stick. How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?
I'm pretty sure it takes about 5 quarts if you just change the fluid and filter, you probably didn't loose all that much, a little fluid makes a really big mess, but id want several quarts on hand, start it and let it get warm, then check it on the stick, keep filling it until its on the full, but don't over fill it,and make sure its warm when your doing this,id only add about a quart or two until i seen where it was at on the stick, there real easy to over fill, good luck with it.How much trans. fluid does a 93 Chevy truck 350, 2wd automatic hold?
If it were completely empty it would take about 8 quarts just keep adding until you see it.It will be fine but do not drive it until you get the fluid to the proper level.God bless.

How hard is it to change/flush radiator coolant on au falcons?

It's not that hard takes a bit of time and you could buy a flush kit at some auto parts stores that will help you , plus it be a not bad idea to have a proper anti-freeze tester handy , new thermostat gasket and thermostat , plus the right factory recommended coolant.

No1 get a few drain pans etc , open the rad drain plug and once all the coolant stops coming out close the valve , add warm tap water to the rad or over flow container until full.

No2 start the engine allow it to run until warm then turn on the heater blower until steady heat comes out for a min or so and turn off car.

No3 Drain the rad again fully then close the valve again and add the chemical flush that you can buy for rads etc and water until full.

No4 Start the vehicle and allow for it to run at least 5 mins always keeping an eye on the temperature gauge, then shut it off.

No5 Now add disstilled water to the system and start the vehicle for the water to circulate again , then turn engine off and redrain rad and keep doing this until all clear distilled water comes out of the rad.

No6 Refill the rad or over flow with a 50/50 premixed anti-freeze mixture and check your owners manual for the specs on the coolant too.

No7 Keep rechecking and adding anti-freeze as you let it on a bit off and on.

No8 You may need to remove air bubbles or air clogs via an air breather valve%26quot; looks much like a air valve on a bike or car%26quot; found on some vehicles by the thermostat housing area by opening it up and closing it once you see only coolant coming out but I'd repeat this a few times once engine has run and a bit and after a drive and allowing the engine to cool down quite a bit first. Also you can simply remove the air via removing the rad cap or over cap start up the engine a bit , stand back and wait for the coolant to push out the bubbles.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way some auto parts stores have diagrams or instructions etc they can print out on certain jobs and also a good service manual for that vehicle might help you too.Just keep in mind please that anti-freeze to animals is very sweet and deadly so use a proper oil absorbing materials on any coolant that has spilt , it's much like sawdust that you can buy.

Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi' boiler? My exsisting one is

Not sure how old my boiler is. Want smaller but economical one. Maybe wall hanging type. Any advise please, including cost of supply and fit? Thank you.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi%26039; boiler? My exsisting one is
A condensing boiler is one that recondenses the water vapur in the flue gasses to extract the latent heat of vaporisation which would otherwise be wasted to atmosphere. They are also known as High Efficiency boilers. A combi boiler is a boiler that does away with the need for a hot water cylinder or storage tank in the loft by heating water instantaneously within it as it flows through from the mains. A non combi boiler is one that is just a heat source used to heat external cylinder and radiators. Both combis and non combis can be made in high efficiency condensing versions, and indeed by law with very few exceptions you will need to fit the high efficiency version.

Cost depends on a lot of factors but you will need your rads and pipe-work cleaned prior to fitting of new boiler as the high efficiency heat exchangers are badly effected by scale and sludge.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. A condensation boiler is a combi boiler, but not all combi boilers are condensation boilers.

If you replace your boiler, you get a condensation boiler. It's likely to be wall hanging unless you have a huge house. You don't have a hot water cylinder. The boiler heats the hot water directly - and that's where the problems start.

You need to site the boiler reasonably near the kitchen sink and bath or you'll waste a lot of heat getting the water there from the boiler. A condensation boiler in the garage is not usually ideal. If your airing cupboard is against an outside wall, you could have the boiler in there, where the cylinder used to be.Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi%26039; boiler? My exsisting one is
A condensing boiler is a high efficiency boiler and these are the only boilers now allowed to be fitted (unless there are very unusual circumstances).

Condensing boilers can be wall hung or floor standing.

A condensing 'combination' boiler will do away with the need for a seperate hot water cylinder and storage cistern in the loft.

A condensing 'system boiler can be adapted to your present heating system as can a condensing 'open vent or heat only' boiler.

You need to speak to a plumber to advise you which is best for your circumstances.

Please, please take my advise and fit a Vaillant condensing boiler. This manufacturer is by far the best on the market and believe me, there is a lot of rubbish out there!

Visit the Vaillant web site and contact them to ask for recommended installers in your area.

Vaillant are a little more expensive than others but the engineering is superb and as with all things in life - you get what you pay for!Questions for UK gas boiler fitters. Is a condenser boiler the same as a combi%26039; boiler? My exsisting one is
No you can have a combi or conventional boiler as a condensing boiler. A condensing boiler is just a more efficient version of previous units.

How do you determine that a car is a lemon?

ok i bought my car 09/05 from a dealership. its a 1998 pontiac grand prix gt and it was $6,200. well since then i've had to put over $3,500 in repairs to it.

    -egr valve

    -belts

    -window motors (both stopped working)

-new wiper motor/relay (also stopped working)

    -mass air flow sensor

-new weather stripping stuff by wipers

    -struts

    -tires

    -brakes

    -air conditioning

-oil changes, radiator flushs, normal stuff...

also i still have to get the fans fixed b/c whenever i turn my heat on they squeal and its annoying, and when my heats on it smells horrible.

no one else i know has ever put that much $$ into a car in less than 2 years.

i bought it from a good dealership it's not like its from a buy here pay here.

also it had 70,00 mi. when i bought it.How do you determine that a car is a lemon?
the lemon law is that it has to have 5 MAJOR things go wrong with it within 1 year of purchase of a new car. You will have to have proof of this by dealer only repairs to your vehicle. The %26quot;small%26quot; repairs will be under new car warrantee. Since you bought a used car then you are screwed. The old saying of %26quot;caviot emptor%26quot; buyer beware. Just be sure to tell ALL of your friends and family not to buy anything from this dealer, as he probably knew the car was in this bad of condition. His mechanics will look over the vehicle when it was brought in then they will determine how much to fix to keep the car running long enough to resell it. If this a reputable dealer then he might refund some of your money since this car was in bad shape and he knew it.How do you determine that a car is a lemon?
Most of the time a lemon is determined from it having to go into the shop for the same problem 3 times within a certain amount of time, and the problem never being taken care of, but I think the lemon laws are different from state to state. How do you determine that a car is a lemon?
some you win some you lose. cut your losses and get rid of itHow do you determine that a car is a lemon?
It looks like no one did any maintenance on this car while they owned it. In other words, it is a well used car.

    The previous owners just put gas in it and that was it....and drive it into the ground. %26quot;Could have been a rental.%26quot;

The dealership ain't about to put money into it if they can sell it. Silicone and turtle wax is enough.

All the things you mentioned are items that wear and would have to be replaced if you owned the car from day one. Except in your case you would have done it piece by piece...over the long haul.

It is a matter of inspecting the car before you buy it - even from a dealer. Used is used=it is up to you to determine %26quot;how used is it%26quot;.

There is no major part here like engine, transmission or rear end.How do you determine that a car is a lemon?
As stated before the LEMON law only applies to newly purchased vehicles, or vehicles that were relatively newly purchased (ie very late model.)

Most of the items you've named are wear items (tires, brakes, struts, etc) though some cars wear faster than others. The window motors are notoriously failure prone in GM vehicles (my brother's Camaro spent 5 minutes rolling up the windows.) Its odd that the MAF went out that soon, but its not unheard of.

If its running fine now I'd say keep driving it, but if it starts to give you problems considering selling it a purchasing something else. Some cars are just money pits. Consider purchasing a Japanese car on your next go round, you will still need to fix stuff but they tend to break with a few more miles on them than the others do.

how much radiator fluid/water mixture do you need to fill the car... like roughly... i know it needs to be full... but around how much is that usually... i have a 4 cylinder engine if that makes a difference..... sorry for sounding stupid... idk what im doing... im only 17 and i live on my own and dont have the money to pay a proChanging radiator fluid... need help?
If you completely drained it, you will want to get 2 gallons of a 50/50 mix. Fill it to the top and let the air work out a little bit. It will gurgle. Then fill it some more. When it doesn't gurgle any more, start the car and let it get hot. Then turn on the heater and wait for it to blow hot. Then check the level again and top off as necessary.

How do i change the radiator in a 1968 chrysler newport, i have no money but have the radiator to put in

i want to try and install the radiator myself . i have the radiator but it looks difficult to take it out because the radiator is enclosed and what about the fan? any suggestions? How do i change the radiator in a 1968 chrysler newport, i have no money but have the radiator to put in
In this old car it is a simple task.

    1. Drain the coolant if it isn't already gone.

    2. Remove the hoses, depending on th clamps it will require a screwdriver or a pair of pliers. Prying the hoses off may require some brute force but they come off easier with pushing than pulling. work your screw driver around under the lip of the hose until you can push it off.

    3. These cars are almost all automatic and there will be two steel lines for the transmission coolant these must be removed with two wrenches. One to hold the radiator fitting and one to turn the line fitting. A small amount of transmission fluid will leak out but not much.

4, Loosten the fan shroud from the radiator by removing the screws that hold it to the radiator and push it back over the fan toward teh engine. Don't bother to remove it.

5.The radiator should have four bolts that hold it to the body of teh car. Once these are removed it should lift out.

The replacement is done in teh reverse order.

switch off boiler and controls, tie up ball valve in header tank (smaller one of the two ), find a drainvalve and attach a hose to it and feed outside. place a towel underneath the valve and open it clockwise. after a few mins, open the bleed valves on upstairs rads and then the downstairs ones ( test first ). when water stops from the hose, you should be safe. hold the rad valve upright when you loosen the nuts. filling is the reverse

hope this helpsPlease tell me how to change a radiator in my house?
Basically you turn off the valve at each end (one is often under a cap as it is only used at this time), undo the big nuts that hold the valves to the radiator, slightly pry the joints apart so that the valve is clear of the radiator at both ends (be prepared with bowls and towels to catch the water that will drain from the radiator at this stage), then lift the radiator off its wall mounting. To fit the new one, do everything in reverse. You need to pay attention to getting a water-tight seal when you reconnect the valves, PTFE packing tape is often useful, wound generously around the thread. The whole job need only take half an hour. Please tell me how to change a radiator in my house?
you have three choices drain down the system or close the valves at each side of radiator and disconnect radiator after emptying it 3rd leave valves on radiator and freeze pipes and disconnect depending on size of radiator if full of water it will be heavy If you drain down system it gives opportunity to renew inhibitors and get any gunge from systemPlease tell me how to change a radiator in my house?
Most of these answers scare the Hell out of me, as I'm a plumber.

You did'nt say why you wanted to change it.

Do you wish to replace because its old fashioned, and you have seen a modern convector.?

    Was it leaking.?

You wish to replace because you fancy a double convector,as it gives out double heat .

If it is your intention to replace like- for- like, there should be little problem. Turn off the valves on each end of the rad, and get a friend armed with a bucket, and a roasting tin from the kitchen, to catch the water that will run out when you remove the rad

Using a wrench, undo the nut, catch the water in the tin, be careful as the valve has a tendency to rotate,. Undo other valve. Lift rad off brackets, and immediately turn upside down and out the door.,

If the rad that you intend fitting is either a` double or a different size call a plumber.

If black water comes out , put FERNOX inhibitor into the system

this is magnetite, black rusr from YOUR radiators.

Try not to drain the system, new water contains too much oxygen..Please tell me how to change a radiator in my house?
Depends on whether you have a combi boiler or hot water storage tank.

Combi turn off water and boiler drain system (use old hosepipe to outside or drain) undo radiator valves with Stilson or equivalent replace radiator use new olives and PTFE tape on valve switch power and water back on and use fill up loop to regain water pressure in system

Hot water storage tie up ball cock on tank switch off water and boiler drain system replace radiator as descibed switch back on and untie ball cock bleed radiators to release air

right, i had to change 22 of these buggers in our hose... bloody nightmare, ...

    follow these steps

    1. close the valves on eachside ( there the ones on top...usually turn the white things... but you may need pliers.

    2. slightly loosen the main fitting into the radiator... and i mean slightly...remember that its full of water!!! so you'll have to drain it... (good idea to put towel down as well just incase you spill a bit

    3. once drained down undo the fitting fully (carefull there might be a tiny bit of water left in.

    4. lift it off the wall ( a good way to stop ant tiny spillage is to flip the radiator upside down once off the wall)

    5. get a new radiator out of package

    6. lift the radiator back onto the wall (make sure it's clipped on to the backets)

    7. put the main fitting back together...... tight! so it doesn't leak!... get some PTFE tape and wrapp it around the fitting..... it helps seal it.

    8. make sure they are tight, and then allow the water back into the radiator by turning the white knobs again ( or getting the pliers)

    9. job done

    hope it helps......

look in your owners manual and it will tell you the capacity of your cooling system so if it says it holds 4 gallons you need to use 2 gallons of antifreeze and 2 gallons of water to get a 50/50 mix.How much water do i need to add to a toyota previa after iv change the radiator?

If you buy the 50/50 % antifreeze/ water mix at the auto parts store, you simply pour it in the radiator and fill it up. If you buy the 100% antifreeze concentration from the auto store, you mix it into another 1 gallon jug with half distilled water (a 50/50 % mix like the one you buy premixed). How much water do i need to add to a toyota previa after iv change the radiator?
depends on where one lives but its mostly two gallons of coolant rest waterHow much water do i need to add to a toyota previa after iv change the radiator?
I generally buy two gallons of coolant and two gallons of purified water. Never use tap water - the minerals will clog the radiator tubes. If the coolant is available in premix, just buy three gallons of that. Otherwise keep the mixture 50/50 unless the manual says different. You can expect to use an entire gallon of coolant and part of the other.

I have a saxo furio 1.4 8 valve and am about to change the radiator, how much antifreeze do i put in?

First leave the old radiator in and buy a Prestone radiator flushing T in any auto parts store. Splice into a heater hose open the drain T in the bottom of the radiator and catch the old coolant in a large oil drain pan. Hook up a garden hose to the T that's been spliced in tour heater hose and turn on the water to the garden hose. Start your car and let idle for 5 minutes. Shut the car off and close the garden hose supply. Let the radiator completely drain and remove it and bolt the new one in.

If you still have the owners manual inside the glove compartment look up the cooling systems capacity in the specification section. If you don't have one go to your local library and look your car up or buy a specialived book on yout car at an auto parts ot book store. You must know the capacity before the next step. First pour in 1/2 the total capacity with 100% aantifreeze. Fill the remainder with distilled water. At this time you may not be able to add much or any water. Put the radiator cap back on and start the car. Make sure the coolant recovery is completely full of the remainder of the antifreeze or distilled water. Get behind the wheel and watch the temperature gage. If it appears to start to get hot shut it off for at least an hour. Water and or antifreeze will be drawen back into the system displacing the air that was locked in as you filled the radiator with antifreeze. Keep the coolant recovery tank at least 3/4 filled when cold with the remainder of your antifreeze and distilled water. After you drive the car for a couple of weeks the antifreeze and water will have cycled back and forth into the coolant recovery tank. Invest in an inexpensive antifreeze tester in any auto parts store. Test the antifreeze from the coolant recovery tank. It should test -35 to -40 degrees below zero.I have a saxo furio 1.4 8 valve and am about to change the radiator, how much antifreeze do i put in?

I need to change the radiator fluid in my 2003 Eclipse. It has the v6. How many 50/50 jugs do i need?

I'd go with one jug of strait anti-freeze and fill the rest with water.I need to change the radiator fluid in my 2003 Eclipse. It has the v6. How many 50/50 jugs do i need?
We only drain and fill at the Mits dealer every 30,000 miles. Use the radiator drain plug. Normally only 1 gallon of mixed anti-freeze is needed. By a gallon of straight anti-freeze and use an old windshield washer gallon bottle to split it in half. I'd make sure you have a mix which is safe to -35 degrees F. Cheap $2.00 testers work the first year. Take the coolant reservoir out and dump it, spray out the bottle and fill it to within 1%26quot; of the top. This will give you extra anti-freeze that will always suck into the system when the motor cools down. Run the system with the radiator cap off for at least the time it takes to trigger the electric fan on the radiator to purge the system of air. You will likely need to add to the reservoir the next day, it's hard to get all the air out in one try.I need to change the radiator fluid in my 2003 Eclipse. It has the v6. How many 50/50 jugs do i need?
    Non and here is why.

Lets say it cost 8.00 you just spent 4 .00 for a 1/2 gallon of water.

So here is what you do.

Open the drain on the radiator and when all the water is out, when empty close drain. Then buy a 1 gallon of antifreeze not mixed with water.

Pour in the gallon and then fill the rest with water.

Even if you dont get it right at 50/50, you would have more antifreeze then water and this is better then a 50/50 mix

Yes, and the radiator is simple to remove. Plastic clips along the bottom of the bumper into the subframe (pull out the centres of clip), 4 Philips screws holding each air scoop underneath, Torx screws from wheel arch into bumper (possibly under air scoops too but double check that) and 2 plastic clips along the top of the bumper. Pull bumper outwards from each wheel arch and it will slide off quite easily. How to change lower radiator hose on a S10 blazer 1997?

First, drain the anti-freeze into a bucket, there will be a wing nut type device on either the bottom or lower sides of the radiator. next, remove the lower hose clamp at the radiator, you'll need either a flat head screwdriver, a proper size nut driver, or a pair of pliers, depending on the type of clamp. Once you have the clamp off, pull the hose off of the radiator. Now follow the hose to where it attaches to the motor, %26amp; remove the clamp on that end, %26amp; pull the hose completely off. Install the new hose in the reverse order, starting at the motor %26amp; working back to the radiator. Don't forget to put the clamp on the new hose BEFORE you put the hose into place, otherwise you'll have to pull the hose back off, put the clamp on, %26amp; put the hose back into place. This can be a real p.i.t.a. because there is usually little space to work in, %26amp; once you get the hose into place, you really don't want to have to pull it back off. Once the hose %26amp; clamps are in place, make sure both clamps are tight, close the drain plug (very important! lol), %26amp; fill the radiator up with the manufacturer's recomended anti-freeze. fairly simple. it is just 2 bolts and 1 or 2 lines most. it should take like 35 minutes at most. How easy is it to change a radiator on a Ford Escort?
Most car radiators are relatively easy to change because they're located right out in front of the engine where you can get to them. However, it wouldn't hurt to first read the replacement procedure in a repair manual you can buy at the auto store or read for free in the library. Also check http://www.autozone.com for instructions on the website. Be careful not to pierce the new radiator fin tubes when replacing it. The transmission oil coolant lines may be a little rusty, so apply penetrating oil and gradually loosen them with a proper brake line type wrench which fits the hex nut better and won't round the nut off. You should replace the upper and lower radiator hoses and use worm drive clamps. How easy is it to change a radiator on a Ford Escort?

First unplug and remove the fan. Second make sure the car is COLD turn the heater on the highest setting and take the bottom radiator hose off and drain. Remove the top hose and the mounts on top. Pull out the radiator and put it back together in the reverse of removal. Next where the top hose connects to the motor, there is a bleeder screw on the thermostat housing that you will need to break loose (careful these are notorious for breaking) Fill until coolant comes out the bleeder screw in a steady stream with no bubbles. With the radiator cap off start the engine and let it warm up (until the fan goes on at least twice) adding coolant as necessary. How to change a radiator in a 96 honda civic lx?

theres a valve on the bottom of your radiator if you cant find it just take off the bottom hoseI need to change the radiator fluid on my 2004 chevy cavalier. How do I drain the old fluid?
It should be on the bottom of the radiator, it will look like a little wing nut. If you dont find it, you can just pull the lower radiator hose. There are also drain plugs on the engine, the are towrds the bottom, underneath a sensor (the name isnt coming to me right now.)I need to change the radiator fluid on my 2004 chevy cavalier. How do I drain the old fluid?
beyond draining the fluid from the bottom of the radiator you also need to turn on a water hose and pour it into the radiator while the engine is running. once the fluid coming out of the bottom of the radiator is clear, shut off the engine, then take an air compressor spray air into the top of the radiator until no water is coming out of the bottom. then replace the wingnut and fill the radiator to the specs listed in the owners manual.

Changing radiator fluid in a 1997 Ford Escort LX?

Hi, I have all of the stuff to change my fluid but I don't know how to get to the underneath part to drain my old fluid. I have searched online and found nothing! If you know how to or a good place to search please let me know.

    Thanks,

There is a big hose at the bottom of the radiator. Take the hose clamp loose and work that hose off, by by fluid. PLEASE make sure the engine is cold. When you put that hose back on be sure and get that clamp good and tight. If you want to search further there is usually a plug somewhere on the bottom tank of the radiator but like you said they can be in very inconspicuous spots and tough to get to. Either one will work fine. When you refill be sure and run the engine at an idle and slowly introduce your 50/50 mix of radiator fluid and water. Be sure your jack or jacks are secure before you get under there. I usually give the car a good shake just before just to make sure.....have a great day and have fun!!!!!Changing radiator fluid in a 1997 Ford Escort LX?

Drain off from a hose coming from the base of the radiator by undoing the jubilee clip, refill radiator, reconnect hose , and tighten clip using a screwdriverChanging radiator fluid in a 1997 Ford Escort LX?
There should be a %26quot;petcock%26quot; on the bottom of the radiator. It will be a small butterfly looking thing with a 1/4 inch hole in the center of it. Once you get it open, make sure and open the radiator cap so you do not create a vacuum. You will be able to drain about 1 to 1 1/2 gallons from it this way.Changing radiator fluid in a 1997 Ford Escort LX?
There should be a small valve at the bottom of the radiator that you can unscrew that will drain all the fluid in the %26quot;radiator%26quot;. I would recommend that you purchase a cooling system flush kit that is sold by Prestone. This kit flushes the entire cooling system which includes the heater, radiator, all the hoses and the coolant that is inside the engine. This method is much more effective and once installed, is very easy to reuse in the future.Changing radiator fluid in a 1997 Ford Escort LX?
