Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?

over the past few months i have been trying to loose weight, and certainly succeeding. i lost 2 stone. i feel a lot more confident as being 13 means that a lot depends on how you look.

but lately ive been really cold a lot of the time and ive had no energy at all. whenever i change i always change by the radiator which is turned up ot the max. i then have burning hot showers. ive tried adding more sugar to my diet but not really succeeding. should i just give it more time or is it something else? Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
* LOW THYROID FUNCTION. Try drenamin and go check out this web site www.gohealthgirl.com. She had that problem, her diet helps you to regain circulation.

* You could be anemic.

* One possibility is hypothyroidism , in which levels of thyroid hormone are below normal.

* There are many causes of feeling cold all the time. This could be from anemia or a thyroid disorder or circulatory problems related to diabetes, high cholesterol or many various other disorders. You should see your family doctor for a routine check up and labwork to know for sure!

* I know another answer, although insignificant, apparently, not getting enough affection, can make you cold.

* Some people don't have enough muscle mass or the insulating fat layer which helps keep most people warm. The muscles help warm the body, while the fat layer helps keep the heat where it belongs. There is also a possibility or hormone imbalance.

* Raynaud's Disease. Do a search for that, you will find good information about this condition. It is bad circulation in your feet, fingers and nose. Your body temperature is always lower than most people. You will be surrounded by people who love %26quot;air conditioning%26quot;, yet the heater is your best friend. Good luck. No treatment is found for this, my research has shown it to be annoying more than a health issue.

* One reason people feel Cold, in hands and feet, can be due to dips in blood pressure. This is acctually fairly common as it is caused by not drinking enough water. Drink more water and see if it helps. The drops in blood pressure also can cause 'black outs', fainting or dizzy spells...Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
First of all. I don't know how much you weigh now. I don't usually encourage 13 year olds to diet. You should speak with a Dr. or nutritionist to evaluate the need... But here's a little information any way.

Being cold is not a symptom of diet.

Maybe you're not eating enough and you're shaky? I would re-examine your diet. A woman must consume at least 1200 calories a day to perform basic bodily functions, a man must consume 1500. Children as young as you need to eat more, I don't have that figure however.

I would also recommend a daily multi-vitamin just to cover all of your bases.

Good luck with your diet. Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
If you have very little body fat you will be more disposed to feeling cold. Fat acts like an insulator.

You may also live in an environment that is both cool and humid - a sure formula for feeling cold all the time. I live in such a place and am chronically cold.

I'm more concerned about the %26quot;having no energy%26quot; part. Are you getting enough sleep, eating healthy fats and protiens (fish, nuts, etc) and getting enough exercise? All those things could lead to chronic fatigue. I would hate for you to be dealing with that at 13! If it persists, consider mentioning it at your next doctor visit. Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
I hope that when you said you had weight loss it was through a dietican or doctor.

Losing 2 stone is quite a lot and your body is probably feeling the cold weather, you could be anaemic, try taking iron tablets, eat more fresh foods and drink warm drinks such as tea etc. not coffee has it can be drying.

Try to wear a warm wooly jumper and try to eat more, try ginger tea it warms my system up first thing and gives me energy to keep on in the day.Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
i am 13 too, and i feel really cold too lately.

i weigh 6 stone 4 lbs.

its probably not good to be having burning hot showers,

if its too hot you could faint.

and it might just be the climate itself or because you are not wearing the correct clothing idk

hope this helps xWhy am i so cold?,is it my diet?
yes, it is your diet, loosing weight doesnt mean that its also going to be healthy, eat things that have hot essence, loose wt, but be healthy also, coldness is not the sign of health. Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
Your metabolism is slowing down. Eat a large amount of food at least once a week. It sound help your metabolism to speed up and help with your cold problem. Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
the weathers hardly hot at the moment ;D

i wouldnt worry too much about it,

congrats on the weight loss too

as long as you eat healthily it shouldnt affect whether your hot or cold

xoWhy am i so cold?,is it my diet?
Yes, it probably is your diet. You are probably not eating enough.

Look it up on Google, it has a lot to do with Chemistry and Biology. Calories are a unit of HEAT (the amount of heat required to raise 1 g of water 1掳C at a specified temperature) so a high energy deficit means a lower metabolism is to be maintained in one's body in an attempt to CONSERVE energy. What you describe has happened to me too, when I eat very little and exercise a lot for an extended amount of time my extremities, in particular my hands, are always cold! But the opposite happens when I consistently eat more than I should and do not exercise as much: my body's core temperature rises. I'm no expert, but I'm quite sure it means that my body is responding to the higher energy intake and thus burning more calories(calorie burning = feeling a little warmer DUH). This probably explains why some bodybuilders assess their metabolism by taking their temperature with a thermometer, and why thermogenics are called the way they are (thermo - temperature)...

If you have no energy, chances are that you're either becoming deficient in several vitamins/minerals (iron and B vitamins for example), or just aren't INGESTING enough energy to keep your body going - or perhaps both cases.

Also, fatty acids in the diet are used to regulate body temperature (whereas bodyfat, as someone else said, is an insulator - people who have extremely low body fat as well as anorexics usually feel cold ALL THE TIME). If you eat a more normal amount of fat in your diet (from healthy foods - nuts, olive oil, etc.) and enough kilocalories, you will start having more energy and feeling healthier. This is not necessarily suggesting weight gain at all.

Finally, get enough sleep !Why am i so cold?,is it my diet?
Hold on there, sunshine! If the world depended on looks, NOTHING would get done! Get that notion OUT of your head before you end up killing yourself.

Tell me, what kind of 'diet' was this? Did you still a proper amount of fruit, veg, carbs and meat(if you're not veggie, that is)?

Fast energy foods like sugary stuff (chocolate etc) won't keep you healthy. The only thing that ameks you put on excess weight is excess fats in your diet. Check out the food pyrimid, and if you want to lose weight, live by that one! Losing a lot of weight in a short time, while you may feel better about yourself isn't good for your health.

I'm no medical expert, but don't forget to feed yourself. Regular exercise each day helps too, around twenty-thirty minutes should do. Don't wear yourself out too much at the gym or whatever.

If you're really concerned about this cold thing, visit your GP.

Good luck! x
